Behind the Scenes in MNHS treasure trove

On a chilly March Monday, the Ramsey House Board of Governors had a behind-the-scenes tour of the Minnesota Historical Society's storage facility. The Ramsey House board was set up in the 1962 will of Alexander Ramsey's granddaughter Anna Furness, who left the Alexander Ramsey House, contents, and endowment to the historical society. Three of the five board members are appointed by the President of the Colonial Dames and the remaining two are appointed by the President of the historical society. The group was able to tour the MNHS records center, housed in a former beer warehouse, which is not open to the public, so this visit was a rare treat! We are grateful to Ramsey House site manager Gibson Stanton for arranging the tour of the warehouse where many oversized artifacts are kept. Photo by Katharine Winston.
