Named for Earl Bakken, co-inventor of the wearable, battery-powered pacemaker and co-founder of Medtronic, the 1930 West Winds mansion now houses the Bakken Museum. The mansion was originally designed for William Goodfellow, and was purchased by the Bakken in 1976. It has been renovated several times to accommodate collections storage and increasing numbers of schoolchildren. We were fortunate to have some time to ourselves to interact with engaging exhibits on electricity, including Earl Bakken’s favorite subject - Frankenstein!
